Katy Perry has reportedly been tapped to perform at halftime of Super Bowl XLIX next February in Arizona. The announcement comes on the heels of her wildly interesting appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay in Oxford, Mississippi last weekend before roaming the sidelines at the Bama-Ole Miss game.

Page Six first reported the story, receiving the following quote from an “entertainment insider”:

A deal is being hammered out for Katy to play the Super Bowl.

The rumors, albeit borderline meaningless because just about everyone is rumored to be playing at the Super Bowl every year, began when her tour dates started filling out. Perry has a noticeable hole in her schedule around the February 1st event.

Page Six reached out to the scintillating star’s representatives but have not yet received a statement on the report. Other rumored acts included Rihanna, Carrie Underwood and Coldplay. There were actually unconfirmed reports in mid-August that Carrie Underwood had been tapped but those whispers quickly died.
