A lucky couple got the most unlikely of candidates to capture a very special moment while on vacation in Florida.
Milwaukee residents Tim Schlosser and Abigail Kobriger were relaxing on vacation in Florida when they spotted a familiar face; Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Schlosser said he saw McCarthy from far off, but immediately recognized him. Being that they are both Packers fan, they asked McCarthy for a picture. McCarthy gladly took a few pictures with the happy couple, but the photo shoot had just begun.
Schlosser had planned on asking his girlfriend to marry him while during their vacation, but didn’t know when he was going to ask her. Then the idea hit him. Schlosser asked McCarthy if he would take a picture of Schlosser and his girlfriend and McCarthy complied.
“I asked him, ‘Can you take a picture of us?’” he remembers. “And she’s like ‘What?’”
As the Packers coach was about to take the picture, Schlosser made his move.
“Coach hang on, I’ve got one thing to do,” he said. “I pull out the ring and get down on one knee.”
Right then, Schlosser popped the question and McCarthy captured the special moment. Kobriger’s face in the picture the moment Schlosser proposed is priceless.
McCarthy ended up snapping thirty pictures of the couple before giving back the camera. Schlosser recalls McCarthy’s reaction to the proposal, saying, “In his unique voice, he said ‘This is cool, this is really cool.’”
The two have not yet planned a date for the wedding, but are considering sending an invitation McCarthy’s way when they do set the date.
