Different year, same story for the Dallas Cowboys. As much national attention as the team receives and as much flack as Tony Romo gets for some ill-timed interceptions, quarterback is the least of the Cowboys’ problems. Last year, Romo threw 31 touchdowns to only 10 picks, a mark which would be good enough for nearly any team in football. Unfortunately for Romo and Cowboys fans, the Cowboys are not “nearly any team.” They had the worst defense in football last year and they somehow look even worse this season.
The Cowboys let DeMarcus Ware walk due to the fact that the team’s salary cap couldn’t handle Ware’s salary. They then lost Jason Hatcher to Washington and lost Sean Lee for the season to injury. Their secondary is in disarray and the Cowboys’ hopes basically rest on the installation of Rod Marinelli at defensive coordinator. Marinelli was responsible for the Cowboys defensive line last season and the unit performed well relative to the rest of the defense but the talent on the roster is simply not there. Tony Romo could put up the best statistical regular season of his life and it will likely not be enough for the Cowboys to make a playoff run.
The Cowboys Super Bowl odds are 60-1.
