Floyd Mayweather, a 40-year-old man, is fighting back comments from Conor McGregor that he can’t read.
Black Sports Online obtained video of Mayweather reading promotional material for his upcoming boxing ring fight with the Irish UFC fighter. In the video, he appears to be able to read lines without issue.

Sadly, it’s been rumored for years that Mayweather is illiterate. McGregor refueled those rumors during the duo’s joint press conference, where he claimed the undefeated boxing champ couldn’t read.
“You’re 40 f***ing years of age. Learn to dress,” McGregor said. “You’re carrying a schoolbag on stage. What do you need a schoolbag for? You can’t even read!”
Mayweather isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but saying he can’t read seems like a bit much. It’s sort of sad Mayweather had to chop this video in the first place to prove otherwise.
Now, unless Mayweather went through a ridiculous amount of rehearsal to memorize those lines, it’s clear he can read. Let’s put those rumors that he can’t to bed.
The better way of trash talking is hitting him in the wallet. That’s where Mayweather is the most braggadocious. Considering Mayweather’s massive tax issues, it’s a safe, fair play. McGregor saying his opponent can’t read is a low blow that’s now provably false. Time to find a new angle.
