The Toronto Raptors quickly worked to sign one of their newest additions. Toronto moved to sign rookie Jamal Shead, a move announced on the Fourth of July.

Shams Charania, one of the NBA’s top insiders, broke the news of Shead’s signing with the Raptors on X Thursday afternoon.

“Toronto Raptors No. 45 overall pick Jamal SHead has agreed to a three-year, $6.11 million rookie contract,” Charania posted.

Shead was an accomplished player at the University of Houston. Under Kelvin Sampson, Shead and the Cougars were routinely one of the best teams in the nation. Shead was a major reason why out of the backcourt, as he earned All-American honors last season along with the Big 12’s Player of the Year Award. He also earned National Defensive Player of the Year honors as well.

Needless to say, Shead should excel in Toronto if given the opportunity. The Raptors have a talented team with players that could complement well with Shead and his abilities. Time will tell to see how he plays, but Toronto has him inked. Working that quickly should only benefit both parties.
