The New York Jets are going from bad to worse fast at the hands of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The Jets recently fired head coach Robert Saleh and traded for one of Rodgers’s old teammates, wide receiver Davante Adams, in hopes of salvaging their season after a poor start. The moves do not appear to be panning out.
Adams made his Jets’ debut on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and a lot was left to be desired. The Jets lost 37-15 and Adams did not have the sort of production people expected from his reunion with Rodgers.
Adams totaled three receptions for only 30 yards and failed to record a single catch in the second half.
After the game, Rodgers addressed the media in his press conference and as has become the norm for him, he took shots at people who have nothing to do with his personal performance. A reporter asked what the team needed to do in order to keep the locker room together.
“Stop listening to you guys, number one,” Rodgers retorted, according to Sports Illustrated.
In a nice change of pace for the veteran, he did go on to take some personal accountability.
“Number two, gotta be accountable, I gotta play better. That’s the key. I gotta play better, I gotta find a way to run the ball better so we can action pass, I thought we did some nice things in the passing game, Breece (Hall) obviously had a couple really nice ones… But we gotta run the ball better and I gotta play better.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers and the Jets can get their season turned around, or if the end to his career will be a sad one.
