The HBO documentary series Hard Knocks is designed to give fans an up-close and personal look at a real NFL locker room, showing fans what it’s really like behind the scenes. But it sounds like there is one thing that the Chicago Bears are refusing to show on the series this season: profanity.
During a recent interview with CHGO, director of Hard Knocks Shannon Furman said that the team has not shown any profanity in the locker room out of respect for the McCaskey family, who own the Chicago Bears. Even though Furman said the team uses profanity “more than any other team I’ve been around,” the McCaskey family does not want to be associated with it, so they aren’t showing it.
“I’ll be honest, this team curses much less than any other team I’ve been around, but it is out of respect for the McCaskey family,” Furman said according to Pro Football Talk. “It’s something that they don’t do and wouldn’t want to see it, so it’s kind of been a decision that was made out of respect for them letting us in their house and wanting to be respectful to them.”
Needless to say, it may not be the most accurate of portrayals this year.
