The New England Patriots are rotating their centers as the team is deciding who should get the starting job between Ryan Wendell and Dan Connolly. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that Bryan Stork and Jordan Devey have also taken some snaps at center.
This is a bit unusual for the Patriots, who have used the same starting offensive line for years. Some collected members of the media wanted to know whether Tom Brady was worried about his chemistry with his centers, when they’ve been switching it up in practice.
Brady stated that he wasn’t worried at all because he gets so many reps over the offseason. He also chose an odd and hilarious way to emphasize how much time he’s spent with Wendell and Connolly under center:
“I’ve got confidence in those guys,” Brady said. “I love both Dan and Wendy. I love those guys. They work so hard. The center-quarterback relationship is a pretty special one. I’ve got my hands on their butts probably more than their wives, so it’s a pretty unique trust and relationship you have.”
And at that moment, a thousand Patriots fan fictions were born.
