So, like most people, I love Weezer. The Blue Album and Pinkerton were pretty much the only albums I listened to during high school. Those are without a doubt, their two best albums. Then came The Green Album and Maladroit, they weren’t bad they just weren’t as good as their first two. After Maladroit it gets a little hazy and kind of strange, like, collaborations with Lil Wayne strange.
The guys return with “Back To the Shack,” the first single off of their September 30th release, Everything Will Be Alright In the End. Drummer, Patrick Wilson, spoke with EW and described the upcoming release’s sound, ” This record sounds like it’s going to have the tight structure of Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton.” Sounds promising right? Listen to “Back To the Shack” and decide for yourself.
If anything, this track sounds more like something that should have been included on The Red Album, but I’m still holding out hope for a Pinkerton-style record.
