After a playing a pretty brilliant game in the Ducks’ 4-3 win over the Stars in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals, Anaheim’s Ryan Getzlaf had to leave the ice after taking a Tyler Seguin slap shot directly to the face in the game’s final seconds.
The puck appeared to strike Getzlaf around the mouth, where he began to bleed pretty profusely before heading to the locker room for repairs with less than a minute left in the game. He didn’t return, but fortunately it doesn’t sound like it was super serious:
Boudreau says Getzlaf is currently getting stitched up, but as far as he knows Ryan has not broken anything and should be okay #TSN

Getzlaf wasn’t the only player to take a scary shot up high on Wednesday’s opening round of playoff games – Montreal’s Brendan Gallagher took a shot to the throat in Tampa Bay. Fortunately, he wasn’t seriously injured and wound up returning a few shifts later.
