CM Punk’s transition from the WWE to UFC was ultimately a forgettable one, as the wrestling legend lost his two UFC bouts and likely won’t ever fight in the octagon again. Despite that, fellow UFC fighter T.J. Dillashaw respects Punk for attempting the transition to begin with.

Dillashaw spoke with TMZ Sports ahead of his bout against Cody Garbrandt at UFC 227 in August. While he said Punk’s UFC fights (both losses) wasn’t “not look good at all” he admitted respecting his decision to go out and fight.

“Yeah, sure, he did not look good at all — but he still went out there and did it … respect.”

Punk’s UFC career didn’t go well at all, but it’s hard to not give him kudos for trying it – even if he failed. Punk got the crap kicked out of him and did it in front of millions of people. It was a huge risk on his part.

Dillashaw knows the hard work it takes to get ready for a fight. Even though he wasn’t amazed by Punk’s fighting skills, he respects Punk for giving it a go twice – despite knowing everyone was watching and some hoping he failed.
