On Sunday night, Chicago Sky rookie sensation Angel Reese was called for a flagrant foul when she struck Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark in the head while Clark was attempting a layup. The play naturally caused a lot of controversy and conversation on social media given the rivalry between Clark and Reese, and Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart was among those to weigh in.

As the video of the play began to circulate on social media, Matt Leinart offered a pretty strong response to the hard foul from Angel Reese as he declared that the WNBA should suspend her, declaring that those sort of plays are “not good for the game.”

“Angel Reese should be suspended. Period. Not good for the game,” Leinart said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s worth noting that Caitlin Clark herself did not seem to agree with this assessment from Leinart. During her postgame press conference, Clark indicated that she thought the foul was nothing more than a normal basketball play.

“Just a part of basketball. It is what it is. Trying to make a play on the ball, get the block. It happens,” Clark said after the game.

But Leinart does not see it that way.
