Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides after no-call on Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides argues with the referees before receiving a technical foul, Thursday, May 30, 2024, during the WNBA game against the Seattle Storm at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Seattle Storm defeated the Indiana Fever 103-88.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever haven’t had the best start to the WNBA season, coming into Thursday’s game against the Seattle Storm with a 1-7 record on the season. But despite the struggles, it seems like Clark thankfully still has the undivided support of Fever head coach Christie Sides.

In Thursday’s game, things got a bit controversial when officials missed a pretty clear foul call on a shot attempt from Clark.

Sides took issue with this immediately, defending her player by tearing into the officials for missing the call. She was quickly issued a technical foul for her troubles.

It’s hard to blame Sides here. This call was very clearly missed by the officials. And officiating has certainly been a bit questionable around Clark all season long.

Last game, Sides sent a clear message to Caitlin Clark, telling her and the rest of the Indiana Fever team to stop talking with the refs on missed calls and to let her do that as the coach.

Well, that’s exactly what happened here. And in the end, the Fever were dealt the same result by receiving a technical foul.

Growing frustrations about the team’s lack of success has to be playing a part here as well for both Christie Sides and Caitlin Clark.

Unfortunately, that lack of success didn’t change much in Thursday’s game. The Fever dropped the game to the Storm to drop their record to 1-8 on the year. But at least Caitlin Clark now knows her coach is quite serious about having her back.
