Last month, Caitlin Clark was controversially left off of the Team USA roster for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. And in her final game before the entire WNBA went on break for the Olympics, Clark sent a message with a dominant performance that might have Team USA regretting that decision.
During Wednesday night’s game against the Dallas Wings, Caitlin Clark had perhaps the most dominant performance of her young WNBA career as she put up 24 points and set a new WNBA record with 19 assists.
“Caitlin Clark is in a category of her own. With 19 assists in tonight’s game, Clark has set a new record for most AST in a single game in WNBA history Previously, Courtney Vandersloot held the record with 18 AST in a game for the Chicago Sky vs. the Indiana Fever in 2020,” the WNBA’s official account said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

This performance from Clark served as a pretty clear message to Team USA that she is indeed one of the best players in the league and she deserves a spot on the Olympic team.
When Clark initially learned that she would not be part of the Team USA roster for the Olympics, she made it clear that she wanted to prove them wrong.
“We talked, actually, on the bus. She got the call on the bus, and she texted me to let me know. I just try to keep her spirits,” Sides said in a video shared by Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star. “One thing she said was ‘Hey coach, they woke a monster,’ which I thought was awesome.”
In the last game before the Olympics, Clark certainly proved herself.
