Earlier this year, Caitlin Clark was snubbed from the United States Olympic women’s basketball team as she was left off the team’s roster for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. And she sent a message to Team USA with her final game before the start of the Olympics.

On Wednesday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever played their final game before the entire WNBA went on break for the Olympics, and Clark might have had the best performance of her professional career.

In the game against the Dallas Wings, Clark scored 24 points while breaking the WNBA’s single-game assists record with 19 in the game.

“Caitlin Clark is in a category of her own. With 19 assists in tonight’s game, Clark has set a new record for most AST in a single game in WNBA history Previously, Courtney Vandersloot held the record with 18 AST in a game for the Chicago Sky vs. the Indiana Fever in 2020,” the WNBA’s official account said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Needless to say, this was a pretty clear message to Team USA that she deserved a spot on the Olympic roster, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

When she first learned that she was not included on the Olympic roster, her coach indicated that she wanted to prove them wrong.

“We talked, actually, on the bus. She got the call on the bus, and she texted me to let me know. I just try to keep her spirits,” Sides said in a video shared by Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star. “One thing she said was ‘Hey coach, they woke a monster,’ which I thought was awesome.”

It seems that she did that on Wednesday night.
