This week, Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark sparked a lot of reactions when she “liked” a social media post from Taylor Swift in which the pop sensation publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election. But despite the decision to like the post, she was not willing to publicly endorse Harris.
During her press conference ahead of Wednesday night’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces, Caitlin Clark was asked whether or not she would be willing to publicly endorse Kamala Harris in the election. Clark chose not to proclaim her support for either candidate.
Instead, Clark simply urged everyone to do their research and vote.
I asked Caitlin Clark about her “like” of Taylor Swift’s Instagram post endorsing Kamala Harris. She answered by saying she has an “amazing platform” and encourages everyone to register to vote. pic.twitter.com/aymRZakuNx

“I think for myself, I have this amazing platform so I think the biggest thing would be just to encourage people to register to vote,” Clark said. “I think for myself, this is the second time I can vote in an election at age 22 – I could vote when I was 18. I think do that – that’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform I have, and it’s the same thing Taylor [Swift] did.
“Continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have and the policies that they are supporting. I think that’s the biggest thing you can do and that’s what I would recommend to every single person that has that opportunity in this country.”
It’s a pretty notable move for Clark to choose not to endorse either candidate, and she was largely praised for the move on social media.
A 22 year old being more mature than the 78 year old on stage last night. https://t.co/WSI0cCYsJ8

Fair question. Put on a clinic with her answer.
She's under no obligation to reveal who she's voting for but she provided a positive message on voting. People often forget. She's just 22 years old. https://t.co/xBhi3sG9oR— Richard Deitsch (@richarddeitsch) September 11, 2024
She’s awesome. Definitely in my Top 4 fav athletes right now https://t.co/adJQZqHkpD
