LSU star Angel Reese made herself a household name at the collegiate level after two terrific seasons in Baton Rouge. But after being selected in the WNBA Draft earlier this week, she now has a plan to make her mark in the WNBA as well, but this time with a brand new nickname.
Reese slid down the draft board a bit, but did still hear her name called in the first round of the WNBA Draft when the Chicago Sky selected her with the No. 7 overall pick.
She will be joining fellow SEC standout Kamilla Cardoso, who the Sky also selected in the first round at No. 3 overall. And naturally, there is already a ton of hype around how the two will pair together in the backcourt.
Reese appears to be quite excited about joining the Sky. In fact, she recently asked fans on her TikTok page to offer suggestions about new nicknames for fans to call her now that she will be joining a new team.
It seems like she has already decided on the nickname she wants, taking to her TikTok page to announce that she is now “The Chi Barbie”.
“Hey y’all,” Reese said to her TikTok followers transcribed by TMZ. So many people done reached out to me. The love from Chicago is running deep and going crazy! So, it’s the Chi Barbie here. I want y’all to know I’m still gonna be the Bayou Barbie, but I’m going to Chicago now.”
There you have it, Reese wants to be called “The Chi Barbie”. But whatever you call her, she should certainly be a player to watch in her upcoming rookie season in her new home of Chicago.
