Last week, Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was fined $1,000 by the WNBA for not making herself available to the media. And she picked up yet another fine this week for her actions during Tuesday night’s game against the New York Liberty.
Toward the end of Tuesday night’s loss to the Liberty, Angel Reese was given two technical fouls and was ejected from the game for what lead official Maj Forsberg described as “disrespectfully addressing” the official and then for “waving her hand in dismissal.”
As a result of the two technical fouls, Reese will now be subject to a $400 fine from the WNBA. For the first three technical fouls in a season, the WNBA assesses a $200 fine for each. If a player gets four to six technical fouls, each is then met with a $400 fine. A seventh technical foul then earns a $800 fine plus a one-game suspension.
Since Reese picked up two technical fouls, she was fined $200 each.
Chicago Bulls star Lonzo Ball, who was at the game on Wednesday night, said on social media that he will pay the fine on Reese’s behalf.
“Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak btw… You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you),” Ball said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
