Over the past several months, Angel Reese has emerged as one of the top stars in women’s basketball, earning her a spot in the inaugural season of the Unrivaled three-on-three basketball league. This weekend, however, she made some pretty unfortunate league history.
During Saturday’s game between Reese’s Rose and the Laces, Angel Reese became the first player in the history of Unrivaled to be ejected from a game.
Late in the second quarter of the game, Reese tried to get a steal from Laces guard Tiffany Hayes but was whistled for a foul. She clearly disagreed with the call, and that’s where the trouble started.

After the referee gave her the foul, Reese started waving her hand dismissively in the direction of the referee, leading the ref to give her a technical foul.
Obviously, the technical foul made Reese even more angry and she ran up to the referee to try to plead her case. Reese appeared to argue that she was gesturing toward Hayes, not the referee. Regardless, the referee wasn’t interested in hearing her argument.
After arguing with the referees, the referee then gave Reese a second technical foul resulting in her ejection from the game, marking the first time that a player has been ejected from an Unrivaled game.
Despite Reese’s ejection, the Rose was able to pull out a victory, topping the Laces by a final score of 83 to 69.
The Rose will be back in action at 8:15 p.m. on Friday against the Mist.
