On Sunday afternoon, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese added another chapter to their rivalry when Clark’s Indiana Fever took on Reese’s Chicago Sky. Reese and the Sky ultimately got the better of Clark and the Fever on Sunday, and Reese made some WNBA history in the process.
Angel Reese has put together a series of strong performances lately, and that continued this week when she finished with 25 points and 16 rebounds, marking her eighth consecutive double-double. And that put her in some pretty rare company in WNBA history.
“8 DOUBLE-DOUBLES FOR ANGEL REESE. Angel is the 3rd player in league history with eight consecutive double-doubles joining Sylvia Fowles and Candace Parker,” the WNBA official account said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Reese’s strong showing on Sunday night helped lead the Sky to an 88-87 come-from-behind victory over the Fever.
With the win on Sunday, the Sky now have their first win over Clark and the Fever this season after losing the previous two matchups.
Obviously, it was another game in the rivalry between Clark and Reese, but Clark downplayed that rivalry leading up to Sunday’s game.
“I’m pretty sure that the only people who view this as a rivalry is all of you,” Clark said on Friday night before the game. “For us, it’s just a game of basketball. That’s what it is. If it’s going to help move the game forward, then absolutely. That’s amazing. That’s what it should be. People can talk about it.”
The Sky and Fever aren’t slated to meet again until Aug. 30.
