On Sunday afternoon, star rookie Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky fell to Caitlin Clark and the Indian Fever by a score of 91 to 82. After the game, Reese did not appear to be all that happy with the officiating, and she seemed to take a little bit of a shot at Clark, implying she gets preferential treatment from the referees.
During her postgame press conference, Angel Reese addressed the officiating, claiming that they impacted the game “a lot” with their decisions and their calls.
“I can’t control the refs and they affected the game, obviously, a lot tonight,” Reese said after the game according to NBC Sports. “Y’all are probably going to play that clip like 20 times before Monday.”
Reese went on to criticize the referees even more, and she seemed to call out Caitlin Clark for getting a little preferential treatment saying “some people got a special whistle.”
“For inside, I think that we were playing really hard. I think we went up really strong a lot of times and we didn’t get a lot of calls. And going back and looking at the film, I’ve seen a lot of calls that weren’t made. I guess some people got a special whistle,” Reese said after the game.
Reese did not mention Clark by name, but most assumed that’s who she was talking about.
