After two long, long years, Tiger Woods is finally back.
Woods went birdie-birdie on 17 and 18 to beat Zach Johnson by one stroke at the Chevron World Challenge. Woods finished at -10.
Woods trailed Johnson by a stroke entering 17, and birdied after Johnson’s putt lipped out. Woods responded with a birdie on the final role, and let out his trademark fist pump and roar.
The win was Tiger’s first since 2009, when he won the Australian Masters. He’s come close before, but had yet to seal the deal until today. The win lift Tiger to 21st in the World Golf Rankings, after dropping out of the top 50, to 52, for the first time in 14 years.
With all the personal drama seemingly behind him, the golf world has to hope Tiger is back to at lead 80% of his old self.
The game, like Sundays, certainly becomes bigger and better when Tiger is winning.
