There is plenty of surf in Alaska if you are willing to brave some travel and extreme temperatures, but now the game has been changed. Check out this video of a couple folks surfing a ‘spring bore tide’ along the Turnagain Arm in Alaska.
According to the Alaska Dispatch News:
The bore tide is a natural phenomenon that occurs in narrow channels when the leading edge of an incoming tide clashes with the flow of an outgoing tide, colliding and causing a wave. Bore tides only exist in relatively few places in the world and along Turnagain Arm, just south of Anchorage is one of the best places to see this spectacle.
Please ignore the fact that this is the equivalent of riding whitewater for one straight minute and that you would be frozen stiff and bored out of your mind.
