Steven Adams joining Echo Fox? Former Lakers star and eSports owner Rick Fox would be down.
Fox, the owner of Echo Fox, a competitive eSports organization with teams facing off in League of Legends, Call of Duty, and Super Smash Bros, was asked by TMZ whether he’d welcome Oklahoma City Thunder star Steven Adams – a noted gamer – on his roster. Fox was up for the idea.
“He’s got time, I’ll talk to him.”
Fox made a great point. If the eSports community was able to land a certified NBA star like Adams, it would lend credence to eSports being a legitimate sports league. Plus, with the NBA teams already being actively involved in eSports, it would further bridge the gap between the two leagues.
Adams is a busy guy and it’s doubtful he’ll be able to have enough free time to jump into competitive gaming on a semi-regular basis.
Still, it’s cool Fox is open to the idea of adding an NBA star to Echo Fox. Whether that will happen is doubtful – but who knows, maybe in the future, it could be.
