Goalie Robin Lehner of the Ottawa Senators’ AHL affiliate made a poor choice trying to intervene in his teams brawl against the Syracuse Crunch. The decision was bad because he failed to realize that the two refs he would encounter were much stronger than him.
Lehner made the long skate across the ice heading toward opposing goalie, Jeff Deslauriers, but he never made it all the way there. Instead, he ran straight into referee Darcy Burchell and a linesman who were having none of the would-be goalie fight. The refs physically man-handled Lohner and eventually escorted him off of the ice.
