The Harlem Globetrotters have held an annual draft since 2007 in which they look to attach themselves to some marquee names in sports highlight some distinguished athletes who “exemplify the Globetrotters’ efforts to provide service, smiles and sportsmanship globally.”
Past Globetrotters drafts have honored athletes ranging from Sonny Weems to Lionel Messi to Mariano Rivera to Johnny Manziel. This year’s crop of Globetrotters draftees is just as diverse.
Headlining the group is Mo’ne Davis, the pitching phenom who also happens to be an amazing point guard in her own right.
2015 college slam dunk champion LaQuavius Cotton, soccer star Alex Morgan, the guys behind Dude Perfect, and college basketball players Larry Nance Jr. and Kylie Huerta round out the 2015 Globetrotters draft class.
Congratulations to all of the draftees although I seriously doubt that we’ll see any of them suit up for the Globetrotters with any regularity.
