Mike Francesa has been on the air for years so you know that he must have gotten a rather bizarre question for him to call it “the weirdest question I’ve gotten in a long time.”
Caller Dan in Warwick somehow (seemingly sincerely) submitted one of the oddest sports radio questions of all-time. The caller wanted to know whether the San Francisco Giants and New York Giants ever got together to hang out when the baseball Giants came to New York City.
When Francesa understandably asked what possible connection the New York Giants and San Francisco Giants could have in this day and age, Dan in Warwick responded that the San Francisco Giants used to reside in New York and that the two teams share the same name. Ergo, the two teams must have some kinship bond, right?
Now, disregarding the fact that both of those statements are true, the sheer absurdity of the question couldn’t help but confuse and then irritate Francesa who proceeded to go on a wonderfully sarcastic rant about all the activities that the two Giants’ teams do together based on their shared namesake.
It’s hard not to feel a little bad for poor Dan in Warwick because it really does seem like he approached the show with 100% seriousness. However, this clip truly tests the old phrase “There’s no such thing as a bad question.”
