It is a pretty obvious reason as to why Detroit Lions fans are petitioning to have Nickleback not stain Ford Field… it is because the band is awful. It always baffles me how a red state band still sells records and has the following that they do, when their music makes me watch to punch myself in the groin. But I digress: the band has announced that it will be playing during halftime of the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving game, which will be nationally televised. Was Eminem or Kid Rock not available?
Detroit Lions fans have started a petition [CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION] to have the performance scrapped with the following letter that numerous folks are signing:
Replace Nickelback as the halftime show for the Thanksgiving game
Greetings,
I just signed the following petition addressed to: The Detroit Lions.
—————-
Replace Nickelback as the halftime show for the Thanksgiving gameThis game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime.
—————-Sincerely,
[Your name]
The Lions finally have a solid football team so I actually feel their pain, even as a Bears fan. I just signed the petition.
