Lee Westwood who is currently the No. 2 ranked golfer in the world had a very rough start to his Masters week. Lee was taking his private jet to Augusta for the Masters and it had to make an emergency landing after a fire broke out in the cockpit.
According to The Telegraph, Westwood was leaving from Houston with his manager Chubby Chandler, golfer Ross Fisher and two caddies. They were able to safely land back at their origin of departure, they made it to Augusta on a different plane late Sunday night. Maybe this will help knock out those first tee jitters in Thursday? Westwood recalls the incident:
“We were a couple of minutes out of the airport, It was a bit scary. It never looks good when you can smell smoke and you turn round and see the pilots have put the masks on.”
