Twenty years ago John Daly dominated Costantino Rocca in the 1995 Open Championship four-hole playoff to capture his second career major victory, with the other coming in the PGA Championship four years earlier. He’s back at the Old Course at Saint Andrews this week, the site of that triumph two decades ago, looking to make some unexpected noise.
After firing an adequate 1-over 71 during Thursday’s first round, Daly’s and many other second rounds were smacked with a rain delay. As a result, the veteran hit the range, where he whacked a handful of balls…and a couple cigarette butts:
