You’re not going to find a much better defensive play to end a baseball game than the one Sam Atwell made in a recent high school game in Florida. The Trinity Catholic right fielder makes a phenomenal diving grab with two outs in seventh (and final) inning to rob Bishop Verot of a hit that undoubtedly would have plated the game’s tying run.
Instead, Atwell’s grab ends the game and makes highlight reels across the country. Big time players make big time plays. And that, my friends, is why baseball is better.
As one of our readers pointed out, it looks like Atwell might have thrown up the bird after making his catch.
