To Gary Neal’s defense, he was trying to do the right thing. He simply wanted to set his feet and take the charge. That’s what good defenders do. He quickly realized though, that he didn’t get there in time; his feet weren’t set. Then panic set in. He realized that not only was he not going to get the charge call, he was about to get Tyreke Evans’ manliness embedded into his forehead. The package was coming quickly. Gary didn’t want to sign for it. He got out of the way.
Did he become the victim of a poster? Sure. But he dodged a much bigger bullet….he also got the last laugh as the Spurs beat up on the Kings 124-92.
