Floyd Mayweather is a very wealthy man and is not shy about hiding it but the latest rumored payout for a fight with Manny Pacquiao is simply mind-boggling. Promoter Bob Arum told Yahoo Sports! this week that Pacquiao has agreed to the fight and they’re waiting on approval from Mayweather’s camp, a decision that could earn both sides more money than one could imagine.
The money split would reportedly be 60/40, in favor of Mayweather, earning him a whopping $120 million. Yes, $120 million to do battle with another human being. Even the most elite athletes don’t sniff that number for their career. Yahoo is also projecting that, in order to dish out that load of cash, the live gate will be in excess of $40-plus million, a figure that would more than double the previous record at MGM of $20 million for Mayweather’s 2013 fight with Canelo Alvarez. The highest ticket prices would likely exceed $5,000 face value.
