During a recent girls high school soccer game in Utah, things turned ugly due to a nasty cheap-shot delivered to a defenseless player. You can see from the video East High’s Petiola Manu is battling for the ball with Makenzie Clark of Woods Cross. Clark ends up on the ground and that is when the cheap-shot occurs. Manu takes a step towards Clark and unleashed a kick to her face, resulting in a brutal shin to face incident.
What is really unbeleivable is that no ref noticed the kick and Manu was allowed to stay in the rest of the game. When confronted by reporters about the viral YouTube video, Manu responded:
“I let my emotions get the best of me and I took it too far,” she said. “I just want to apologize to her and everyone. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
“It was a physical game and I let my emotions get the best of me. It was nothing personal. I was just really frustrated with the game. I wasn’t thinking. I was just running on adrenaline, and the game was tied at the time.”
According to The USA Today, Utah athletic officials and school administrators told KSL they’ll look into the incident and determine if punishment is necessary.
