The ECHL’s Reading Royals will be wearing awesomely hideous “Ugly Christmas Sweater” jerseys on December 14th this year.
The sweaters are a part of an annual promotion called the “Teddy Bear Toss Night” in which fans bring stuffed animals to the game and throw them onto the ice after the game’s first goal, then they are collected by team staff and given to children for the holidays.
A couple of years ago the Teddy Bear Toss resulted in 25,000 presents for youngsters, so not only are these jerseys a pretty cool gimmick…they’re also part of a really incredible promotion.
