Boo Weekley has only claimed one PGA Tour victory since 2008, but the 41-year-old has still raked in plenty of money from his professional golf career. Entering this week’s Barbasol Championsip at Grand National in Opelika, Alabama (Weekley did not qualify for the British Open), he has earned just over $1.5 million in tour money in 2015, giving him nearly $14 million in career earnings. After adding in a few million here and a few million there for endorsements, appearances and other items, Weekley has been able to pay for plenty of guns, bows and fishing rods.
The Florida native chatted with the Montgomery Advertiser earlier this week after he made the short trip to Alabama for the inaugural tournament and revealed that golf isn’t really his thing and he’s just looking to pay for his hobbies, specifically hunting and fishing.
“My thing is I don’t keep up with golf. I just play it to pay for the other sports I like to do.
Although this amusing revelation is just that, amusing, it’s nothing different than 99 percent of other Americans that only work in order to pay for other things.
