Former United States President Donald Trump made a pretty embarrassing mental lapse during a speech this weekend, and it quickly caught the attention of a tennis legend who he accidentally mistook for former President Jimmy Carter.
During a recent rally in New Jersey, Donald Trump tried to reference Jimmy Carter for being “brilliant” by comparison to Joe Biden, despite having a “bad reputation.” But Trump seemed to mix up Carter with tennis legend Jimmy Connors, who was the top tennis player in the world during the 70s.
“Jimmy Connors is— He’s also happy. Jimmy is a very happy man. Both of them because, you know what, they want him out. Jimmy Connors had a bad reputation. Right now, he is considered a totally brilliant president by comparison (to Joe Biden). Right now he is a totally brilliant president by comparison,” Trump said according to Newsweek.
After hearing about the mixup, the actual Jimmy Connors took to social media to roast Donald Trump with a meme, replacing Jimmy Carter’s face with his on an old Carter campaign ad to poke fun at the mixup.

“Who knew?! #Connors2024” he said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
This is obviously a pretty brutal mental lapse from Trump, and Connors wasn’t going to let it slide without having a little fun at Trump’s expense.
