Apple released an iPhone firmware update today to developers, iOS 5.0.1 beta. One of the most noteworthy improvements of the update is bug fixes addressing battery life on the iPhone. Thank goodness. My iPhone 4S loses 1% battery life every few minutes. Now the bad news. Many developers have been unable to activate their devices on the new firmware. They are venting their frustrations on the Apple Developer Forum. Upon activation of the iPhone, the device is displaying an error that reads, “This device is not registered as apart of the iPhone Developer Program.##br####br##if you are a member of the Program, please register your device in the iPhone Developer Program Portal.”
Great. Now I might just have to wait a little bit longer for feedback from developers whether or not the firmware update actually addresses the battery-suck problem.
