Google just announced they have acquired Green Parrot Pictures, a digital video company that has created technology to drastically improve the visual quality of video uploaded to YouTube. Green Parrot Productions, located in Ireland, works to improve the way video looks by sharpening the image, doing away with visual noise, and manipulating the content to provide a steadier shot. This technology is valuable to Google and YouTube as mobile video continues to dominate in the area of user-generated content. I’m looking forward to the day when watching video someone shot with their mobile device and shaky hand doesn’t make me nauseous.
