According to a survey released this morning by Nielsen, more US smartphone users own an Android device than iPhone. In March 2011, 37% of smartphone users had an Android device compared to 27% who owned an iPhone and 22% who owned a BlackBerry. That’s a major jump in Android device ownership considering only 22.7% of smartphone users owned one last October.
Nielsen also took a look at what type of smartphone consumers planned on getting next. 31.1% of those consumers want Android, up from 25.5% last fall, and 30% want an iPhone, down from 32.7% last fall.
