You won’t be seeing Maldives or Afghanistan represented in the upcoming World Cup, but the two nations’ soccer teams recently faced off in the AFC Challenge Cup. Maldives managed to beat Afghanistan in the most hilarious way possible – with this amazing penalty kick that featured the striker, Maldives’ Ashad Ali Adubarey, tripping on his approach, faceplanting, then getting up and labeling one into the back of the net.
Was the trip genuine, or did Adubarey do it purposely as a amusing bit of trickery? It’s tough to tell, but the goalkeeper looked completely stunned (can’t say I blame him) so maybe more guys should try this strategy in the future.
