It’s a pretty cool feat: for the first time in World Cup history, Algeria is moving on to the Round of 16. It did so by drawing with Russia, 1-1, in its final group stage game.
But Russia is having none of it. Mainly because it appears that on Algeria’s goal, Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was blinded or distracted by a green laser of some sort.
After the game, Russia coach Fabio Capello was quick to point out what transpired on the goal.
“He was blinded by the laser beam,” Capello claimed.
It appears he has a case.
