Pele will join the likes of Justin Tuck, Michael Strahan, and Blake Griffin as a Worldwide Brand Ambassador for Subway. Sports Business Daily reports that the man considered to be the best soccer player of all-time will be featured in commercials with other athletes, as well as some by himself.
Subway’s CMO Tony Pace actually met the former NY Cosmo back when he covered soccer for a New Jersey paper.
Subway CMO Tony Pace said that Pelé will be featured in ads both by himself and with other Subway athletes. He will appear in Subway campaigns in multiple markets before the end of the year. Pace had been pursuing a deal with Pelé for a long time, having met the soccer star while a sportswriter covering the NASL N.Y. Cosmos for the Morristown Daily Record.
