To be fair to Anna Belle, we’re sure a lot of people reacted like this on the inside when Neymar was injured in the final minutes of Brazil’s win over Colombia.
In an interview with Globo Esporte, Anna Belle’s father revealed that the video came about as the family was watching the Brazil-Colombia game with dinner. After mentioning that Neymar was taken to the hospital, little Anna Belle became inconsolable and her heartbreaking reaction was caught on camera by her parents to effectively embody Brazil’s collective ethos on the internet for all of eternity.
Even though she’s only one year and nine months old, Anna Belle has always been a die hard Brazil and (especially) Neymar fan:
“We always watched the games together. I do not know if it’s because of his appearance, but she always asks about him. She just stares at him. She is one year and nine months and does not understand much, but likes the mess. She jumps a lot, all is merry when Brazil score, even more when it’s Neymar.”
