Over the past few weeks, social media posts began popping up highlighting a potential problem with Tesla’s iconic Cybertruck where the accelerator pedal can get stuck and potentially put drivers at risk of a collision. As a result, Tesla has issued an absolutely massive recall on every single one of the Cybertrucks that it has shipped to date.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officially announced the recall on Friday morning after Tesla confirmed that the pedal can indeed dislodge and potentially get caught in the trim around the footwell which would prevent drivers from safely stopping the vehicle. Tesla is recalling all 3,878 Cybertrucks that it has shipped to date to address the issue.
“Tesla says it will replace or rework the accelerator pedal on all existing Cybertrucks. It also told NHTSA that it has started building Cybertrucks with a new accelerator pedal, and that it’s fixing the vehicles that are in transit or sitting at delivery centers,” Sean O’Kane wrote for Tech Crunch.
Obviously, this massive recall led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Sure, we all made fun of the Cybertruck’s awful design. But maybe you’ll change your mind when you learn it’s also a lethal disaster on the inside https://t.co/0p1mKIN7u5

Two months. This hunk of junk has been on the roads for two months before getting recalled. This might genuinely be the worst car. https://t.co/XRzp5wbON4

This certainly is not great news for Tesla, but it sounds like the company is acting quickly to remedy the situation.
