Transgender Sadie Schreiner once competed as a male at her high school before her transition. But after transitioning to a woman, she is now a member of the women’s track and field team at Rochester Institute of Technology, where she recently set a new school record.

During a recent college track and field meet on Dec. 8 at Nazareth University in New York, Sadie Schreiner claimed a victory in the women’s 300m race and set a new school record in the process with a time of 41.80 seconds, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

According to the Daily Mail, Schreiner actually competed at the same meet a year ago in the men’s category of the 100m race where she finished in just 19th. As the outlet points out, her time of 41.80 seconds in the 300m this year would be good for just 41st place if she were to have raced in the men’s category.

Obviously, her record-setting victory at the event will just add fuel to the fire as conservatives across the country push back against the idea of allowing transgender women to compete in women’s athletic events, as that has become a hot-button issue in the country lately.
