Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is currently running for United States President – has tried his best to lean on his “blue collar” roots to connect with the everyday American, but some recent news suggests that the presidential candidate clearly has some wealthy friends who provide him with some lavish perks to help his golf game.
This week, the Washington Post detailed a rather shady donation to Ron DeSantis, revealing that wealthy donors lent the governor a golf simulator for his use in the Governor’s Mansion. Simulators like the one donated to DeSantis “are typically built to fit a specific space and start at $27,500” with the curved-screen version starting at $69,500, according to the Washington Post.
According to Caroline Klancke – executive director of the not-for-profit Florida Ethics Institute and a former general counsel and deputy executive director of the Florida Ethics Commission – this donation is quite unusual and could be cause for concern from the Ethics Commission.
“This would be ripe for their scrutiny if a complaint were to be filed,” Klancke said according to the Washington Post. “I’m at a loss because it’s unusual.”
It certainly caused quite a few reactions on social media as a result.
It’s going to be very funny when a new one of these comes out for every month he’s running, and everyone has to act surprised that a Florida elected official is a criminal https://t.co/hE9sMJebfa

Head’s up #GOP voters – if you think guys like DeSantis and Trump have any idea – or care to have any idea – of what your life is like, you’re living in an alternate reality! These guys cannot fathom working hard, making good money, and then wondering where it all went. https://t.co/7At8STMumD

The reason so many career politicians are excited for DeSantis is that he represents a return to the Republican party’s business as usual https://t.co/d8ny8ul5Mx

The golf simulator was lent to DeSantis by Mori Hosseini, a major home builder who chairs the University of Florida’s Board of Trustees.
