As the United States prepares for the upcoming presidential election between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, United States soccer legend Megan Rapinoe is nervous about the result.
During the most recent episode of the “A Touch More” podcast, Megan Rapinoe admitted that she was feeling a bit uneasy about the upcoming presidential election given her fears about what Donald Trump would do with another term in office.
“It is stressful. I am nervous but I also am hopeful. I believe in people and I certainly believe in women and I believe that people want better than the grim, dark, just violent reality that Donald Trump has very clearly laid out for us,” Rapinoe said on the podcast. “He’s telling everybody what he’s gonna do and it’s really dark and it’s really sad and I don’t think anybody wants to live like that,” Rapinoe said.
However, Rapinoe also made it very clear that she is excited about the possibility of electing Kamala Harris as the first woman president.
“I also think we have a really amazing opportunity to elect a Black woman in this country,” Rapinoe said on the podcast.
“And for me, that is really important,” she said.
Needless to say, these comments from Rapinoe led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“Well, crime surged under Trump. He wants more guns on the streets. He routinely advocates for violence in his rhetoric. He opposed more border security.and then there was this – so how is she wrong?” one person wrote.
“She’s right,” another person added.
“Her accuracy is not questionable. Superstars rise to meet the moment as she always does with arms outstretched to embrace love, freedom, and truth,” another person added.
“She’s right. Violent crime, hate crime, anti-gay, and antisemitism were all up last Trump term, so we can expect more of the same,” another person said.
“She’s right. Trump is the worst human,” someone else added.
“She used trumps own words and actions against him?!! Wow crazy,” another person said.
Most polls show Harris and Trump in a virtual tie heading into election day. We’ll have to see who comes out on top.
