Former Ohio State Buckeyes college wrestler and coach, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), made the shocking move on Tuesday to force a vote on his bid to become the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The House has been paralyzed during the latest Middleast crisis after eight breakaway Republicans joined with a united Democratic Caucus to end the Speakership of Kevin McCarthy in early October.

Jordan expected to lose the first ballot and eventually win over the holdouts through negotiation, not something for which he’s been known during his decades in the House.

However, the result ended with 20 Republicans refusing to vote for Jordan, which an ally described to CNN as “much worse” than originally anticipated.

The Republican Caucus, rather than call a second ballot as expected, called a recess to talk tactics for their next move out of the public eye.

The world was quick to react to the embarrassing result for Congressman Jordan:

“It’s the Jim Jordan Self-Flagellation Kabuki Theater Extravaganza!” wrote Michael Sloane on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Republicans have normalized losing and chaos…Is there no shame?”

“Is there an over/under for the amount of votes it’s going to take that I can bet on? I need to make this even more entertaining,” wrote X user “Mack.”

“American politics is a joke. We really got on tv and said we gon do this and that for other countries and can’t take care of our own business and citizens,” wrote Ayana Monique.

“Trump lost again. Pass it down,” wrote Truth Hurts.
