As you may expect, Joe Biden and Donald Trump disagreed with nearly everything brought up in the first 2024 presidential debate on Thursday night. But of all the disagreements, Trump’s biggest gripe about Biden actually came when Biden made a claim about his golf skills.
Yes, you read that correctly… Trump and Biden got into a big disagreement about who is the better golfer. The two particularly disagreed about Biden’s golf handicap after the president claimed that he once had a six-handicap when he was the vice president for Barack Obama.
“You can see he is 6-foot-3” and all of 235 pounds,” said Biden. “Just take a look at what he says he is. Look, I would be happy to have a driving contest with him. I got my handicap down to a six. By the way, I told you before I’m happy to play golf with you if you carry your own bag. You think you can do it?”

Trump pushed back against this claim immediately, calling it the “biggest lie” from Biden all night long.
“That’s the biggest lie that he is a six handicap,” said Trump. “Of all… I’ve seen your swing, I know your swing.”
For Biden’s claim to be true, it would mean that he would have to have accomplished the goal of a six-handicap while he was between 66-74 years of age, depending on when throughout Obama’s two-term presidency it happened.
It’s obviously not impossible for Biden to have done this. But it also makes a bit of sense as to why Trump was skeptical to believe this claim.
